Subject: Diaspora

I am right now sitting on the fence of a great semiotic divide.... to be
gulped up on both sides in a sea of inconsistency. But seriously folks,
what do you all think of using the term Diaspora to refer to South
Asians? Does it work? Do the notions of a homeland render it useless
for the second generation? Is it only applicable for the Jewish people?
Then what about a South Asian Jewish person?

I have more questions than answers, but would be intersted in others
sharing their questions/thoughts/oppositions/support on the use of this
term.
