Subject: Spinoza and Marx

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ted Stolze, and I am a graduate
student at Claremont Graduate School east of Los Angeles. I am currently a
lecturer at Sonoma State Univ. in North California and am finishing my
dissertation (I hope by the end of the summer) on Spinoza's politics--drawing
on Deleuze, Althusser, Negri, Balibar, Macherey, but also Matheron, Tosel,
and Moreau (whose most recent, massive book Spinoza: L'experience et
l'eternite is especially important for Marxists interested in Spinoza.) With
Warren Montag I am translating and helping to edit a collection of essays
from French scholars on Spinoza. U of Minn Press will publish sometime in
1996 under the title The New Spinoza. Finally, I am a more-or-less active
member of the socialist organization Solidarity. I look forward to the
discussion group.
