Date: Thu, 6 Jun 1996 14:48:06 +0100 (BST) From: Fiona Steinkamp <ejua35-AT-holyrood.ed.ac.uk> Subject: MII - Gender and Postmodern Communication [NOTE: Spoon-Announcements is not a list; it's a mechanism for distributing information of potentially general interest to all subscribers of the Spoon Collective's mailing lists without bombarding them with cross-postings.] The aim of the Monist Interactive Issue (MII) mailing lists is to exercise a new way of doing Philosophy and to produce, from the discussions on the lists, a set of essentially collaborative articles. It is hoped that the discussions will be lively and rigorous. I have been invited to initiate a new MII list on Gender and Postmodern Communication. For this list I am taking my lead from Herbert Hrachovec. Thus I will not myself produce a target paper for discussion, but I have prepared a list of some relevant resources at:- http://www.ed.ac.uk/~ejua35/mii-gpmc.html Those wishing to participate should provide a short outline of their thoughts on the list topic. These will be made publicly available. Those who do not submit an outline will be allowed to join, but if discussion is not flowing, those people will be the first to be called upon to further the debate. I will edit neither the outlines nor contributions to the list (except in extreme circumstances) in order to ensure that discussion is relatively uninhibited and free-flowing. The published product, however, will consist of only selections from the (publicly archived) discussion. Anyone interested in the list topic is encouraged to join. The outlines of interest should be sent to me directly at:- f.steinkamp-AT-ed.ac.uk along with your name and your email address. I will then subscribe you to the list and confirm receipt of your email. Alternatively people may subscribe by writing to:- listserv-AT-ls.univie.ac.at with the message subscribe mii-gpmc These subscription requests will then be passed on to me and I will add them to the list. However, the more people that write to me directly with an outline of interest the better. This will ensure that the list covers a range of topics that are of interest to the group as a whole rather than just of interest to a few. I look forward to an interesting discussion. Fiona Steinkamp.
