Hi, Michael.

It is certainly nice to group the works according to the criteria you give,
for practical organization purposes, but I don't really like the idea of
having an exhibition according to these sorts of categories. To me it looks
like a garden in which you would put all the trees in a corner and all the
flowers in another corner, etc... I love the idea of pavilions, but not with
a group per group classification.

This idea is simply beautiful !
Also since the media authorizes it, we can have several perspectives on the
exhibition, and build all the pavilions we like, it's just a matter of a few
links.

I think it is very important to do better than all we know about electronic
galleries

Of course, that's part of the multiple perspectives allowed by the media.
We may also sort things according to the nationality or according the each
existing group etc...
And we might have one perspective per known aspect of surrealism. This costs
nothing in terms of disk space, since the "glue" shall be textual
information anyway and that's no cost.
But that would provide several ways of "visiting" with each time a different
point of view. In fact several exhibitions and several ways of "feeling" it.

>I have a few ideas about how to make this look appropriate, but I need to

I think we should write down all possible ideas and ways to organize this
exhibition.
Discussing that in the email list helps a lot in finding new ideas.
Also, digging into technical issues is important. I am trying to experiment
with the Netscape 3.0 beta for the moment.I have a manual scanner and a
sound blaster board. I shall also attempt digging a bit into Java scripts if
I can.

But the major issue is to gather and classify the works.

We should really make a plan and open one thread on this list per plan item.
But I am not ready yet myself for proposing a plan. I think we must go on
gathering ideas, works and techniques.

I am OK with the proposal of Carlos about gathering some money. That's most
often useful, but I think that ideas and works are more important at the
present moment.

Who can work on the HTML ?
Only Barrett, Michael and me ?
Who cannot work on HTML ?

Your turn to play.
(By the way, I am afraid I forgot "Collective Absence" more than once...)
