Politics has very little to do with it. Whatever is discovered
is discovered and the politicians try to regulate the results
where they can although they'd be much happier without the upsets
which technology brings.

The only thing we can do about S&T short of escaping into the desert
or suicide, is to ensure that it is done with the utmost respect,
the utmost commitment and recognizes the spiritual component -
creative vision - as prime. This can be done. But first it must be
demonstrated systematically that it is possible and that the practical
results are stunning and irrefutable.
