Subject: Who are we?

After reading through the posts beginning with "Recapitulation", I would like
to make a proposal in order to develop more of a community of thought on this
topic. The posts while interesting were somewhat bewildering because I lack
sufficient information on the writer, her perspective, interests, expertise,
what I want out of participation, and so on. Some of this information has
been set out, some is implicit, but there are gaps.

As for me: I am a lawyer in Baton Rouge, LA. I pratice administrative law
and have some telecommunications clients. I am generally familiar with the
federal telecommunications regulatory scheme & developments there. As I was
a professional student for a while, I also have a masters degree in English
literature, an MFA in poetry from the University of Iowa and am generally
familiar with "theory" at least up to about 1987 (when I went to lawschool).
I am planning to return to school for a PhD in literature (in a year or two)
and hope to re-familiarize and re-accustom myself to the landscape through
participation here.

If legal questions come up in our discussions, I will be happy to research
and report on these.

I have the book on order, but it isn't in yet. Can anyone give me some idea
as to how our reading is going to proceed?

I would appreciate hearing from the rest of you.

Thanks,

John Tarver
