Well, I have read some of the Conley book...but like the idea of posting
ideas and discussion from the different essays. I am an educational
consultant with a medical school, and do curriculum development,
educational research, planning, etc. I am an odd duck in that I work
in diverse areas in education...in particular, I write about
cyborgs, the impact of technologies on societies, human-machine dyads,
etc. My background is in curriculum, educational technology, instructional
development, and educational methodology...I am starting to embark more
into philosophy. The areas I draw from are generally critical theory:
including feminist and postmodern thought, and also qualitative research,
loosely speaking: ethonography, cultural phenomenology...etc. I joined
this list because I used some of Conley's book in my recent work with
a group of educators who have been writing about cyborgs for about three
years...we are quite vocal, altho' small and rather viewed as out there
on the edge!!! I can't wait to discuss the book with others! P.K. Jamison
