Subject: GETTING OFF and ERROR BOUNCES


Dear All,

About getting off this list: I wish instead of doing so people would
join the discussion and actively direct it wherever they want it to go.  
This is the first time in a long while that this list has actually
become alive.  I would think this would be cause for satisfaction, not
for unsubbing.  

But if you do want to unsub, by far the most elegant way is to send the
message

                   unsu**cribe technology

(but with the asterisks replaced with "bs", of course) to 

                   majordomo-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu  .

About the "undeliverable mail" message that has been bouncing to the
list and is in danger of creating a loop: the address which is
referenced as the direct cause of the error --
mhancock-AT-freenet.columbus.oh.us -- is not on the list.  How, then, is
it causing the error message?  I am not sure.  It might be that this
address is on another list, which in turn is subbed to this here list.
The header of the bouncing message mentions delphi.com; I've written
to the delphi postmaster for advice -- I am figuring that perhaps
there is a delphi-resident list that is causing the problem.  So the
bottom line is: don't know, and am trying to find out.
