Get a free copy of this historic patent (or just view a summary) at http://eepatents.com/feature U.S. Patent 2,524,035 describes one of the most significant inventions of all time as follows: ...a block of semiconductor material on which three electrodes are placed. One of these, termed the collector, makes rectifier contact with the body of the block. The other, termed the emitter, preferably makes rectifier contact with the body of the block also. The third electrode, which may be designated the base electrode, preferably makes a low resistance contact with the body of the block. Upcoming features will include the original patents for the Costas loop and the negative feedback amplifier. For the first half of April, the featured patent was "Method of Receiving High Frequency Oscillations," issued 1920, for the superheterodyne receiver.
