Subject: Re: Naming the list

Greetings to all. I just have a small request for information.

The Canadian law school I am attending is interested in starting an
inaugural lecture series on race and culture this term. This initiative
is a product of the efforts of a student group here concerned about the
positions of people of colour within the multi-faceted legal scene and
the lack of critical insight into such issues at the school.

To start this series, the Dean responsible wishes to bring a fairly
well-known legal scholar from one of the more "elite"/(elitist) law
schools in North America or eslewhere and has asked the students involved
to suggest names.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions of scholars people may know,
or have read, or have heard of. Again, the fundamental condition is that
s/he be a legal scholar and preferably, at a well-known, well-reputed law
school. I f anyone has other names, however, I would love to forward them
as well. If anyone has comments as to this step the faculty is taking in
terms of increasing the breadth of the school, please let me know too.

Thanks.

Maneesha
