HI Radhika,

Home and the Harem is by Inderpal Grewal and published by Duke in
1996. I haven't read it in its entirety but it seems to provide a new
perspective on the gendered nature of imperialism. The book deals with
English women's writings about India, how the concept of tourism shaped
certain aspects of imperialist-nationalism, and how ideas of femininity in
Britain shaped the English women's suffrage movement and their support of
Indian women's movement. There is a long chapter on Pandita Ramabai and
Parvati Athvale.
