Subject: Electing Indian-born Peter Mathews to the US Congress


Dear Friends,

Please join me in supporting the campaign to elect the Indian-born
Democratic candidate out of the 38th Congressional District in
California, Dr. Peter Mathews.  

I spoke to him again yesterday.  As a US citizen in this country for 41
years, I feel that he will provide strong leadership for diverse
representation and leadership in Washington.  

I asked him directly how he thinks he can make a difference -- since his
constituency is in California -- for the concerns of health care,
education, jobs, and businesses for *Massachusetts* residents.  He said
that bills passed by the US Congress affect ALL states.  Consequently,
as a US Congressional Representative, he can lobby for the issues
*Massachusetts* residents uphold and see that *their* concerns are
incorporated into relevant bills for passage.  So, too, for all other
states.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

I am raising funds on the East Coast to help elect Dr. Mathews to the US
Congress so that he can uphold our concerns, ensuring a positive future
for us and our children in the areas of health, education, jobs, and
business.  He has already won in the primaries as the leading Democrat
running against a Republican opponent.  Previously, the Republican
opponent outspent Dr. Mathews.  

I'm requesting the help of all my friends and associates, as well as all
South Asians, of whom there is a large population in the US.  With your
help, Dr. Mathews stands to be the first Indian-born US Congressional
Representative in *30 years*!  

Such diversity means true "democracy," rather than preferential
treatment and special favors for more powerful lobbyists.  This is the
kind of diverse leadership we have in Dr. Peter Mathews who has alreday
proven his commitment to the quality of life for everyone in all aspects
of our lives regardless of race, religion, gender, or age.
