Call for Participation: A Consultation on the UNDP TCDC WIDE Women's
Initiative
In February of this year the UNDP Special Unit for Technical Cooperation
among Developing Countries (TCDC) launched the WIDE Initiative in support
of south-south technical cooperation.
Today, on International Women's Day, TCDC is issuing a call for
participation in public consultations on a planned WIDE Women's
Initiative. The WIDE Women's Initiative seeks to increase the visibility
and participation of women from developing countries in technical (and
other) cooperation among developing countries.
The purpose of the consultation is to solicit and share views on how best
to increase the visibility and participation of women from developing
countries in cooperation activities among developing countries.
The general public, and women's groups in particular, are urged to
participate in this consultation. The results of the consultation will be
used to (a) design WIDE Women's Initiative strategies for working with
partners, (b) increase the presence of women's expertise in the WIDE
Online database, and (c) increase the participation of women's expertise
in south-south cooperation.
The consultation will take place on the WIDEFORUM-L discussion list (see
instructions below) and by other means.
Women from developing countries, and their institutions are also strongly
urged to register in TCDC's WIDE Online database as a step toward
enhancing the visibility and scope for the use of their expertise. To
register in WIDE Online directly go to http://www.wide.org.br . You may
also register by starting at the WIDE Initiative home page:
